  Eden Bay (formerly Paradise Beach) Resort is a CO resort that opened
| in 1994 and reopened under new management in September, 1995.  Facilities
| on the 50 acres include private beach, swim up bar, three pools (one for
| water volleyball), 2 hot tubs, sand volleyball, tennis, beach-front
  snack bar, scuba diving, snorkeling, horseback riding, beach bar, sun
| deck, dining and lounge area, game room, exercise room, and disco.
| The staff is reported to be extremely helpful.  Cottages are large,
| and the grounds are very well maintained.  People that stayed in the
| hotel units wished they had taken a cottage.

+ The major negative introduced by the new management is a rule requiring
+ clothing in the main building (restaurant and disco and probably one
+ bar, the game room, the store, and office as well) until 9:30 PM.  To
+ avoid disappointment and potential problems on your visit, you should
+ also be aware this is NOT a beach resort (access to the ocean is poor)
+ and that, unlike the rest of the Caribbean, most people in the Dominican
+ Republic do not speak English (Spanish is the native tongue).

  Phase I includes 126 condominium accommodations including 60 cottages
  and 66 hotel rooms and studios.  Cottages and Deluxe condos include
  full kitchens.

  It is located one hour east of Puerto Plata International Airport.
  Service to Puerto Plata is by American Airlines via Miami or San Juan
  hubs.  Airport transfers are included in the package rates.

  The beach is not as nice as Club Orient's, as Eden Bay has small beaches
| and less calm ocean.  Beach shoes are a must at Eden Bay.  Club Orient,
  at times, has a problem with a very large proportion of clothed people
  on the beach; but Eden Bay will not.

  There is next-to-no nightlife at Club Orient, but Eden Bay will have
  lots of night activities.
